Relationship Idioms :)

With the quarantine period, you may stay more time with your loved ones. so, I think these idioms may help you in your relationship.

01.From the bottom of my heart

We use the above phrase,

  • With a sincere and deep feeling
  • To show sincerity towards something
  • To express truthfulness to someone
  • When saying something genuinely

Example 01:- Tell me from the bottom of your heart, Do you love me?

Example 02:-I am apologizing to you from the bottom of my heart, I won’t hurt you again.

02. Broken heart/ Break someone’s heart

We use this phrase,

  • When a person is emotionally sad
  • To specify the loss of a loved one
  • When there`s a romantic loss or break up
  • When a relationship is ended.

Example 01:- Please stop worrying. Your broken heart will heal with the passage of time.

Example 02:-I know he broke your heart, but there are other boys out there who are better than him.

03.The Other half / The Better half

  • The better half is the husband, wife, or partner of someone
  • Maybe the tour partner or spouse
  • Can also refer to a very good friend

Example 01: -I can`t enjoy the party without my other half being here.

Example 02:-I love to go to the nearest park with my better half every evening.

04.Next of Kin/ Next to Kin

We use this word phrase to describe the nearest living blood relative or relatives of a person.

If you are a married person, then we can say your spouse is your next of kin. If you are divorced or widowed, any kids are your next of kin. If you are single, then your parents. In case when parents are not alive, your siblings are your next of kin, in order by birth.

Example 01:-His next of kin have been informed and that person is supporting in the investigation.

Example 02:- I think we should call the next of kin of the injured person.

05.On the mend

We use the word phrase on the mend when there`s an improvement in health after an illness or when restored to a previous, better condition. also, we call a relationship is on the mend when it is improving.

Example 01:-Their friendship went through a tough time but it is on the mend now.

Example 02:-Their marriage was in trouble for a while but they have been working on it. It seems that it is on the mend.

06.Mr.Right /Ms.Right /Mr.Fix

  • Mr.Right or Ms.Right is the best future life partner for someone
  • It is also used to describe the person that you imagine to spending your future with
  • We can say he /she is the ideal one that you want to marry
  • Mr. Fix is someone who repairs or fixes broken down things. :)

Example 01:- I wish that I could meet Mr. Right soon because all of the men that I meet seem so immature.

Example 02:-I think I am in love with Sarah and she is Ms.Right for me.

Example 03:-I’ve been single for ages, I don’t know where to find my Ms.Right.
